Obituary of Edward Joseph Arsenault

It is with sadness that the family announces the unexpected passing of Edward Joseph Arsenault at the Saint John Regional Hospital on May 23, 2024. He was born on July 8, 1937, in Minto, NB to parents Frederick and Edna (Boudreau) Arsenault.

Edward was a hardworking man his entire life. One of his first jobs was working in the coal mines as a teenager. He spent most of his life working as a Labor Foreman in Saint John, NB until he retired in 1995.

Edward always had to be busy, even in retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and trap. You could always find him going for drives down Black River Road, driving through the trails in Red Deer or cruising the streets of uptown Saint John on his scooter. Edward had many friends and he would light up any room he entered. Edward loved life, loved people and loved his family very much.

Edward was predeceased by his parents Edna Boudreau and Frederick Arsenault, his siblings, Arthur (Jackie) Arsenault, Freddy (Barb) Arsenault Jr., Doreen (John) Warford, and Dorothy Gibbs as well as his children Bridgette Arsenault and Justin Arsenault. Edward was survived by his siblings Viola (Tom) Lawton, Elsie (Robert) Pearson and Dan Arsenault, his children, Dean Arsenault, Rhonda Cromwell and Evan Arsenault as well as 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424). With visitation on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from the Cathedral of The Immaculate Conception on Thursday, May 30, at 12:10 PM. Those unable to attend are welcome to view the service via Livestream. Interment will take place in Minto, NB, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Edward may be made to The Heart Foundation.
