Obituary of Anna Marie Somerville
With heavy hearts, and grateful for a long and full life, the family of Anna Marie “Sugar” Somerville (nee Walsh) announce her passing on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Bobby’s Hospice. Born December 4, 1929, in Little Pond, PE, she was the daughter of the late George D. Lewis and Jennie Ellen (Walsh) Lewis.
Marie “Sugar” was very family oriented and the ultimate mother, with many of her children’s friends adopting her as their second mother. She cherished her whole family and was known for her macaroon cookies and chocolate cake. In her earlier years, she was a member of the UCW. She loved knitting and reading, and had a love for animals- especially cats.
Marie “Sugar” is survived by her children: G. Michael Somerville, Linda MacKenzie (Matt “Skip”), and Tressa Burgess (Scott); grandchildren: Chris MacKenzie (Char), Lisa MacKenzie (Peter Dempster), and Sarah Winchester (Trevor White); great-grandchildren: Jacob and Dallis MacKenzie and Miley and Grace Dempster; brother, Barry Lewis; sister, Mary Surette; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her parents, Marie “Sugar” was predeceased by her beloved husband, George Burton Somerville; her sisters: Kathleen Goodall, Mae Coyne, and Doreen Lewis; and brothers: Howard Lewis and Steve Lewis.
The family would like to thank the staff of Bobby’s Hospice for their exceptional care of our mother in her final days. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
