Obituary of Velma Florance Finnigan
It is with sadness that the family of Velma Finnigan announces her passing on July 9, 2024, at the Ridgewood Veterans Health Wing. Born on December 17, 1926, in Saint John, NB, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Florence (nee Wallace) McAleer.
Velma is survived by her children: Patrick (Donna), Terry (Lori), Ann Marie, and Susan (Ed); daughters-in-law Janice and Sheryl; 13 grandchildren: Natalie, Melissa, Tara, Kyle, Jamie, Jason, Jessica, Suzan, Matthew, Michelle, Kimmy, Celeste, and Chloe; 19 great-grandchildren: Hunter, Rylee, Cheyenne, Kohen, Charlotte, Axl, Harry, Addy, Grant, Kate, Aleah, Hadley, Reece, Cianna, Michael, Logan, Benny, Stella, and Levi; 3 great great-grandchildren: Everly, Ramayad, and Vida; sister, Dolly; brother, Melvin; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Arthur, sons Micheal and Danny; and sisters Marian, Vida, and Leona.
Velma was an excellent mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, having them over for Sunday dinners or hosting holiday gatherings. Her food was always delicious, and everyone would leave her house with full bellies and a smile on their faces.
In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo and her scratch tickets.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424) a private family service will take place.
