Obituary of Michael James Gifford
Michael James Gifford was reunited with his wife Sandra on Sunday, July 14, 2024. Mike was born on September 1st , 1942 to the late Charles and Helen (Byers) Gifford in East Chester, Nova Scotia.
Mike was a life-long resident of Milford. He enjoyed giving back to the community and running the Milford Community Centre with Sandra. Mike was self employed for most of his life, working on various projects over the years.
Mike had an infectious laugh and loved a good joke. He had a great group of friends that he enjoyed spending time with, they would bike, go on ATV runs, and hunt. He loved taking his houseboat up the Saint John River to the Cambridge Narrows. Mike would always bring his camera, taking beautiful photos of the surrounding nature. He was a talented photographer. Mike also loved music and enjoyed DJ’ing with Sandra on Pal Talk for many years.
Mike cherished his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren; they were his whole world.
Mike will be dearly missed by his children; Sherry (Darrell) Blanchard, Wendy (Dave) Mckinnon, Joe (Terrie) Gifford, and Mike E. (Linda) Gifford, grandchildren; Ashley Blanchard, Theresa Blanchard, Michael Gifford, Tiffany Gifford, Eric Gifford, and Charlie Godsoe, great grandchildren; Clara Rose Little, Ella-Mae Regular, Leah Belliveau, Jemma Jones, Rowen Gifford and Finn Gifford, brother Paul, niece Linda (Duncan) Ripley, nephew Kevin (Robin) Olton and beloved dog Boo Boo.
In addition to his parents, Mike was predeceased by his wife Sandra, their children, Heidi and William Gifford and sister-in-law Carol Olton.
The family would like to thank Kay and Robert Melanson, Mike’s homecare workers for his wonderful care; Dr. McNeil and Dr. Hearn, for their kindness and compassion; and the amazing staff of 5CN and Extra Mural for taking such good care of Mike and our family.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3 506-634-1701. A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations in Mike’s memory can be made to Joshua Group, Hope for Wildlife Nova Scotia, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
