Obituary of Elsie Marie Blanchard
In Loving Memory of Elsie Blanchard
With deep appreciation for a life well-lived, the family of Elsie Blanchard announce her passing at Bobby’s Hospice on August 16th, 2024. Born in Le Goulet in 1942 to Marc and Eugenie Roussel, Elsie led a life marked by love, dedication, and quiet generosity.
In 1960, Elsie married the love of her life, Philippe Blanchard, and together they moved to Saint John, where they would build their home and life for the next 64 years. Elsie was an astute businesswoman and was instrumental in the success of Blanchard Homes.
A quiet philanthropist, Elsie preferred to give anonymously, letting her actions speak louder than words. Her kindness and generosity touched countless lives, making her a true unsung hero.
Elsie was always up for an adventure, whether boating on the Saint John River aboard the Elle-Sea, snowmobiling in Markhamville, or golfing in Florida. Her adventurous spirit and warm heart forged treasured friendships that have sustained both her and Philippe through the challenges of the past six months.
Elsie will be deeply missed by her devoted husband, Philippe, her beloved son Eldon (Susan) of Sussex, and her cherished grandsons Marc Blanchard (Janelle) of Quispamsis and Michael Blanchard of Fredericton. She leaves behind four beautiful great-grandchildren: Eva, Lydia, Amelia, and Jack. Elsie is also survived by her siblings, Alfredine Alice, Dellie, Emelie, Achille, and Gaston; her sisters-in-law Annette, Marguerite, and Brother in laws Telesphore, Ronald; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by her infant son Philippe, grandson William, great-grandson LJ, her brothers Jean-Paul and Roland, sister Aline, and brothers-in-law Gerard, Leon, Ovide, Francois, and Hilaire, as well as sisters-in-law Hectorine, Florence, and Eva.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the teams at the SJRH 5AS and Bobby’s Hospice. Healthcare professionals are the true superheroes of our time. A special thank you to Lesley McColgan, Linda and Roger Hache, your constant support and gentle kindness will never be forgotten.
To our extended family, and friends who have become family over the years, your love and support have been our strength throughout this journey. We are profoundly grateful to have you in our lives.
