Celebration of Life
Obituary of William Carl Arthur Pump
It is with deep sorrow that the family of William Pump announces his passing on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at the age of 79. His death resulted from complications following elective surgery at the Moncton General Hospital in New Brunswick.
Bill was born in 1944 in Vancouver, BC, the only son of Anne Thiessen and William Pump. Bill is survived by his wife of 34 years, Christine, sisters; Judith (Brian), Anita (Jim), Kate (Dennis), daughters; Sarah and Melanie, grandson Logan, nieces; Meaghan, Carmen, Rose and Alison and nephews; Michael M., Michael S., George, John, Colin, Patrick and Roland.
At the age of 25, Bill fell off of a roof he was shingling and an x-ray revealed that he had a congenital birth defect known as a coarctation of the aorta. Pioneering surgery successfully repaired the valve, and the aorta was replaced with Dacron. In that this type of surgery had rarely been done before, the doctors told Bill that he would likely live for another 5 years. It would be an understatement to say that Bill’s recovery transformed his outlook on life and ignited a lifelong passion for sailing, travel, learning, fishing, skiing, business, restoring vintage cars, and love.
Bill lived 45 years after his heart surgery and for that, his wife, family, friends, colleagues, clients and employees are beyond grateful. Bill’s cheerfulness and his kindness towards all living creatures will be deeply missed.
Our wish for Bill is that he rests in eternal peace and beauty…
