Obituary of Yvonne Mary LeBlanc
With heavy hearts the family of Yvonne LeBlanc announces her passing on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Yvonne was born in Caraquet, NB, on January 8, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Pierre and Marguerite (Barrieau) LeBlanc.
The family moved to Bouctouche, NB, then to Saint John in 1942, next door to her friend Alice (Hosford) LeBlanc. She grew up in Stella Maris and St. Ann’s Parish.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved and cared for her a great deal. They called her “Grammy” (the younger ones) and she loved that. They were all very special in her life and she was always ready to help anyone who needed it. Yvonne really hated to do dishes but would dig a ditch or paint your house for you.
In her life, she worked at Foley’s Canuck Pottery, Sugar Refinery, and Northern Telecom, retiring after 41 years in the workforce.
Yvonne loved spending hours in her workshop making many wooden things. She also enjoyed fishing, hockey, boxing, lapel pin collecting, white water rafting and even zip lining too. She wrote poetry, and painted nearly 200 paintings and gave them all away to anyone who wanted them.
Best of all she loved cruising to all the islands with her sister- they were inseparable and best friends.
Yvonne was predeceased by her parents; brothers: Joseph, Leo, Alban Sr., and Albeni; and sisters: Regina, Pauline, and Alice.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424) on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 9:30 am, St. Ann & Joachim Parish, with interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Westmorland Road. Donations may be made to Bobby’s Hospice, Sts. Ann & Joachim Parish, Canadian Cancer Society, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
