Obituary of Margaret Louise Lawson
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Margaret Louise Lawson announce her passing, which occurred on September 17, 2024, at Bobby’s Hospice. Margie was born on January 22, 1940, the only daughter to Ernest and Elsie (Thomas) Lawson.
Margie worked as a school secretary at Seawood Elementary, Beaconsfield School, and New Albert School. Her favorite position was being a mother and grandmother always involved in their extracurricular activities. She had a kind and giving heart volunteering at Romero House for 20 years, knitting hundreds of mittens each year for the elementary schools in the Saint John area and her parish, Church of the Resurrection (GrandBay – Westfield).
Always up for an adventure she enjoyed many travels with friends and family to the Caribbean, Florida, England, Rhine River Cruise, Hawaii and Newfoundland. She loved to stay active attending the gym, walking, hiking, gardening and trailering at Pine Cone.
Margie had many friends. She loved gathering with friends and family, attending the Imperial Theatre and sharing a glass of wine or two.
She is survived by her beloved children, David English, Kathryn Whelan (James Hayes Whelan), Stephen (Cheris Lynn Salter) English, and her cherished grandchildren Martin (Kaitlyn), Margaret, Marcella, Matthew Whelan, and Sarah (Josh) Pitre and great grandson Avery Pitre, Cousin Murray (Helen) Lawson. She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest Alonzo Lawson and Elsie Lawson (Thomas).
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Vance Anderson, Dr. Christian Mackin, Dr. Emily Love, Bobby’s Hospice, Extramural, and the Oncology Department.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. Cremation has taken place. A Funeral service will be held at a later date.
