Obituary of Richard Robert McLellan

It is with great sadness that the family of Richard Robert McLellan announce his passing, which occurred on October 23, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born February 23, 1950, in Saint John, NB, to the late Louis Robert and Mabel Alice (Neves) McLellan.

Rick was an avid fan of all sports. From playing ball, umpiring and shooting darts, you could always find him involved in something competitive, and rest assured he would always win. As much as he loved sports, he loved his girls more, they were the light of his life. His grandchildren were his world and he was the best papa to them.

Rick will be immensely missed by his daughters Jolene (Gary) Wade and Angela (Phillip) Yang; their mother Julie McLellan; siblings Wesley, Gene, Marney (Paul), Kim (Dorothy), Lance (Sherry), and Louis (Mary); grandchildren Connor and Brooke, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Rick will be lovingly reunited with his parents, sisters Lois, Star, Verna, and Buelah, and sister’s-in-law Liz McLellan and Neina McLellan.

We would like to extend a special thanks to Linda for the love and support she’s given Rick over the past few years. We would also like to give our gratitude to Dr. Christopher O’Brien and the staff of 5CS on the palliative ward at the Saint John Regional Hospital for his genuine care.  

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). Visitation will take place at Brenan’s on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 11:00 AM, with an interment and reception to follow.
