Obituary of Nancy E. Orchard
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nancy E. Orchard on Friday, October 25, 2024, at her residence. Nancy passed away peacefully at a moment of her own choosing after a long battle with her ALS disease. She was most grateful for the gift that is MAID (Medical Assistance In Dying).
Being a mother was Nancy’s greatest joy and she took incredible pride in her children and grandchildren. She loved to spend time near the ocean. Irving Nature Park and New River Beach/Barnaby Trail were definitely herfavourite places to spend time. The weather never deterred Nancy’s beach trips and a foggy day was always welcomed; she loved a little bit of everything when it came to the weather at the coast. Spending time with her grandchildren was always a highlight. Nancy so enjoyed taking them to her beloved New River Beach or Saint Andrews, leaving her grandsons with memories of both sunny and foggy days with their grandmother. Nancy enjoyed hiking and the one to the Hearst Lodge in Fundy National Park was a perfect day. She also practiced Taoist Tai Chi for fifteen years. Tai Chi Day at New River Beach was definitely her favourite.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Meredith Orchard of Quispamsis; son, Neil Orchard (Jennifer) and cherished grandsons, Owen and Ryan of Canmore, AB; sisters, Janet (Brian) and Jill (Joe); brother, Mark (Mary); as well as nieces, nephews, and friends.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents, John and Betty (Waring) Stephenson, and her husband, Charles in 2021.
Nancy would like to say a special thank-you to Meredith for all her help in allowing Nancy to stay home, all staff at Ken-Val Rehab, KV Extra Mural, Dr. Andrew for being so kind, Norma Dawn, Dr. Wildish, special cousin, Dianne Barbour with her surprise visit, her special house guest, Kaylee.
Arrangements are under the care of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (506-847-2199). In respect to Nancy’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place and interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery for Nancy and Charles.
