Obituary of Lionel Boudreau

Joseph Wilfrid “Lionel” Boudreau, 86, passed away peacefully on November 1st, 2024 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a period of declining health.  He was born to Alexandre and Bernadette Boudreau on May 8th, 1938 in Gloucester County, New Brunswick.  He was married to Annette Nancy (Barrieau) Boudreau on October 3rd, 1959 and recently celebrated their 65 years of marriage. 

He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Irving throughout the years, before returning to his true love, the woods.  He cut and sold firewood for many years.  Lionel spent many hours at “The Liars’ Table” at Tim Horton’s Waterloo, Lancaster Mall and Simms Corner.  He loved attending the races at Speedway 660 to cheer on his late grandson, Kyle Boudreau. 

Lionel is survived by his wife, Annette Boudreau; two sisters, Eméline St. Cœur and Anne Marie Richard; two sons, Ronald (Nadine) and Paul (Melanie) and daughter, Susan O’Hearon (Allen).  He was lovingly known as “Père” by his grandchildren, Kaleb Boudreau (Justin), Karlene Jennings (Nick), Mathew O’Hearon and Allison O’Hearon (Jeremy) and great-grandchildren, Madisyn, Dexter and Jackson.

He was predeceased by his parents, Alexandre and Bernadette Boudreau; seven siblings, Alexandre, Léonie, Valentin, Roger, Roméo, Léona, and Alexandre; as well as his grandson, Kyle Boudreau (Stacey). 

In keeping with Lionel’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. 

Lionel and his family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of 5C North, 4A North and Dr. Poirier for the wonderful care that was provided to him.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lionel’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, Diabetes Canada or a charity of one’s choice.
