Obituary of Lillian Flavilla Atkins
Lillian Flavilla Atkins passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the age of 103 surrounded by family at Kennebec Manor. Lillian was born in Saint John, NB to the late Albert Freeman and Ruby Reed (Smith) Osborne.
Lillian was full of wit and dry humor, and she enjoyed old fashioned fun. Lillian was an extremely hard worker all her life. She loved her children more than anything and took wonderful care of their home.
Lillian started her career at MRA’s, and once children were in school, she went back to work at K-Mart. She eventually went on to manage the notions and fabric department at Towers where she retired. Lillian was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd and St. Luke’s Anglican Church, where she was treasurer of the WA for several years.
Lillian will be missed by her children; Dawn Baxter of Carleton Place, ON, Barbara Hunter of Saint John, and Robert J. Hunter (Gen) of Saint John, grandchildren; Andrea Monette (Shawn), Carl Baxter, R. Jordan Hunter (Heather), Katelyn Hunter (Liam Fox), great grandchildren; Erynn and Nathan Monette, Ryan and Luke Hunter, and Summer Fox.
Lillian is the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband Robert James Hunter, and second husband R. Jack Atkins, three brothers, and two sisters.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. Keeping with Lillian’s wishes cremation has taken place and a Graveside Service will be held in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations in Lillian’s memory can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
