It's been many a year since I have encountered Blake. It was as far back as the 70's at the NBTel Woodward Avenue Work Center. Seems like a lifetime ago. Blake was a stand-up guy and such a pleasure to be around. He was not the kind of person to be easily forgotten. What a contribution he has made to the wellbeing of others which is a testament to his character and love for his fellow man! My sincere condolences on your loss.

Dear Faye and family. Faye , not sure you will remember me. I had moved to SJ and attended church at St. Mark's, you and Blake were the first people I met there and I immediately felt at home, you and Blake were so warm and caring. Blake and I were from the same location outside of a boat road, so we had that immediate connection. I remember a Remembrance Day ceremony at the Cenotaph on Manawagonish Road, Blake and you were there, and he asked me who I came with, I said I am by myself, I walked from Douglas Avenue as it was where I had moved to, he said oh you should of called me, I would have come and picked you up. I used to see you two when I worked at No Frills, you were a sweet couple. I want to express my sympathies at Blake's passing, may God's ever present love and comfort be felt in your hearts and minds, and may you all be surrounded by those who can be an earthly comfort and a strength in the days ahead.

Faye & family. Bob and I were saddened to read the obit this afternoon. You were one of the first families to welcome us when we moved to McCavour Drive in 1976. It was always so nice to chat as you both walked up and down McCavour Drive the years we were there. Always smiling and always pleasant. Blake fought a good fight and it was so good to have him get to know his grandchildren, we know they will never forget him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. Unfortunately we have both been down with the flu and will be unable to attend the service. We will be there in spirit. Ann & Bob Turcotte

I didn't just lose a father in-law yesterday. I lost one of my best friends.
Blake was the kind of guy that could get along with anyone. It didn't matter your political views or any alternative views as long as you were good to others. He was just a sweet man.
I was reminiscing with him one time we were alone in the hospital. We were talking about all the things we did and built together. Working the weir with him was my most memorable and crystal clear memories. I think it was because when we were on a boat, building or tending weir together, Blake felt so at home and happy. He took me in as one of his own, I never felt like an in-law.
We built and rebuilt things, because we would make a mistakes but always had fun. There was always something to do on Deer Island and he had a plan for getting something done every time we went down. Faye would get mad at us because we would argue, but it was part of the fun for us, we always laughed about it in the end.
Those were fleeting moments but I was lucky to have them with him.
I can truly say that I loved every moment I spent with Blake until yesterday. It was hard to let him go. He was a big part of my life and of course a father and husband to my favorite people on the planet.
I will miss him dearly, and will never forget him.

Blake had an easy way of speaking, a very genuine 1,000-watt smile, and a wonderful family that loves him so much.
A memory or two: He was older than me and out of high school when I, as a very young child, lived with Blake and his parents during my mother’s illness, and I spent a lot of time there later, after her recovery. We “vied” for the red vinyl-covered piano stool that stood beside the kitchen stove…. or he pretended we did. It had been his as a child – and then I claimed it and loved to sit on it and spin around and around. When he arrived, he’d make a beeline for it, watch me have a hissy fit – and just grin.
I pretty much ruined the guitar he’d left behind, pretending I could play it. He never said a word.
When I got older, I’d visit him and Faye in SJ for a week or so in the summers and they were very patient with a spoiled teen age girl.
Blake was smart, and he was kind, and a very much treasured cousin. I loved him and I miss him.
Much love to Faye, Todd and April, Heather and Nick, Lori and Andrew and the grandchildren.
