Earl & I were shocked and saddened to hear of Kim’s passing. We’ve been friends with Peter & Jessie for many years and had the privilege of staying at that beautiful farmhouse, chased her chickens, ate fresh veggies from her garden and easily seen the love and friendship she offered to so many. Eric and family, I was so sad when I read the news of Kim’s passing! I first met Kim when Emily was in my Kindergarten class at MacDonald Consolidated School. What a great help she was to me and the children. Her quiet, caring nature and her calm way with the children was her special light for all of us! She had the most beautiful smile, I remember her excitement when she was going back to school herself to get her teaching degree and how proud she was to have a teaching position at Westfield School. I was saddened to read about Kim. She was so welcoming and kind to me when I taught at Westfield school. She had so many interests and yet she was always interested in learning more! My condolences to Eric and family. I met Kim when I was on teacher exchange from Perth, Western Australia, to Westfield School in 2008. My husband Kell and I were invited to your home on a couple of occasions. I remember learning to cross country ski and we also had a hot tub outside when there was snow everywhere. Where we live in Western Australia we certainly don't have snow and our summer temperatures reach 43. Kim was a very welcoming and kind person. Back in the day when our kids were all at MCS we were going to organize a fundraiser for something for the school can’t really remember, but I remember Kim saying let’s do the meeting at my house and I’ll make lunch. We asked if we could bring anything and she said no just come at 10:00. We all arrived figured out a plan for the fundraiser and then it was time for lunch. Kim had made this homemade cold tomato soup and I thought cold she crazy you don’t eat soup cold. Kim seen the look on my face and said they eat soups like this in other countries and I said okay I’ll try it. When I was finished she asked me how I liked it. I said it was one of the best soups I had ever tasted and had a second bowl. Over the years every once in a while I would think of that delicious cold tomato soup.

It's been a long time since I was out to my old home on the peninsula, but my heart will always have roots there, and your Mom was always so nice to me. I remember, one time in middle school (somewhere between '00-'03), she came into our class to teach us how to use chopsticks.
