Obituary of Eldon Johnson Beckett

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Eldon "Junior" Beckett, husband of Jean (Donald) Beckett, announces his passing which occurred on March 18, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on September 28, 1927 in New Jerusalem, he was a son of the late Eldon and Flossie (Johnson) Beckett. Junior was a man of faith. He was an elder member of Browns Flat United Church since 1951. He was an active member, lending his voice to the choir and for other services held at the church. Junior held the position of Fire Chief for many years as well as being an ambulance driver within his community. Junior could often be found in his garden, tending to his potatoes and other growths. He was also an avid producer of maple syrup. In his spare time, Junior loved to play ball and fish in Jerusalem, a place that holds many special memories. Junior will be dearly missed by his wife of 68 years, Jean, their children: Brian (Margo) Beckett and Brenda (Philip) McKenzie, grandchildren: Jason (Heather) Beckett, Justin (Melissa) McKenzie and Kelsey McKenzie (Justin Cole), great grandchildren: Wyatt McKenzie and Kamber Cole, sisters: Irma Bevans, Marion Aulbrook, Gwendolyn McNaught, Elizabeth (Walter) Messer and Lois Bolden, along with many nieces, nephews, and members of his extended family. Besides his parents, Junior was predeceased by his brother Waldo Beckett and sister Marguerite Dunlop. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425). In keeping with Junior’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Junior’s life will take place at Browns Flat United Church, 7566 Route 102, on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 2 PM. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Browns Flat United Church.
