Obituary of Clarence Edward Hamm

The family of Clarence Edward (Bud) Hamm are deeply saddened to announce his passing at Bobby’s Hospice on April 6, 2017 following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Saint John on June 23, 1937, he was the son of the late Clarence James and Greta Francis (Mallory) Hamm. Bud will be missed by his 4 children: Mike (Trisha) Hamm of Saint John, Barbara Morrow of St. Stephen, Debra (John) Green of Amherst, NS and Dana Hamm of Saint John. His loving grandchildren: Stephen, Jessica, Haley and Nicholas will remember him fondly. He is also survived by his loving sisters: Arlene Butland (David) of Cambridge Narrows, NB and Patsy Mills of Sussex, NB. He is predeceased by his sister Sylvia Hamm of Sussex, NB. Growing up in Rothesay, Bud became a Canadian Junior Gold Medal Speed Skater. He worked in his father’s grocery store before later becoming a jeweller. He opened Lancaster Jewellers in West Saint John then moved onto Hamm Jewellers where he retired with 47 years’ experience. He was also a member of Hibernia Lodge #3 where he became a Master Mason and a member of the Luxor Shriners. Bud enjoyed the outdoors always making sure the birds were well fed. He spent a lot of time fishing and hunting with the boys, wood working and looking after his vegetable/strawberry gardens. However his greatest joy came from the company of his 2 Border Collies: Wolfie and Casey. Mary Craft: You have been a true friend to Bud for many years. Your care and kindness towards Bud mean a lot to all of us. Bobby’s Hospice: A huge thank you to all the staff and volunteers. The care, compassion and support you all offered to not only Bud but his whole family touched our hearts. You are all angels in disguise. Dr. Bob Webb: Thank you for your compassion and extra care you showed towards Bud. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425) where a Celebration of Life Service will be held from Brenan’s Bay View Chapel on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 3 pm. A private interment will take place at Trinity Anglican Church Cemetery in Sussex, NB at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bud’s memory can be made to Bobby’s Hospice or a charity of your choice.
