The death of Bertha Irene (Shea) Boyles, wife of the late Walter T. Boyles, occurred on May 8, 2017, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on January 13, 1926 in Grainland, SK, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Veda (Harman) Shea.
Bertha was the Treasurer and President of The Loyalist Zone, President of the Beaconsfield Rubies, Secretary and President of The Hillcrest Villagers Senior Citizens Association and often volunteered as a nurse on senior’s bus trips. She was also an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan, loved to bake and enjoyed a good game of crib. Above all else, Bertha was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved caring for her family and spending quality time with them. She was known as "Nanny" to all the children she looked after in her daycare.
Bertha will be lovingly remembered by her sons: Larry (Shelia) Boyles, Gordon (Wendy) Boyles, and Brian Boyles and special friend Karen; daughter-in-law, Diane Boyles; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Bertha was predeceased by her son Wilfred Boyles; brothers: Gordon Shea and William "Billy" Shea.
