Obituary of Avis Georgina Shuve

Thankful for many small blessings in the journey, the family of Avis Georgina "Peggy" Shuve sadly announce her unexpected passing Tuesday, May 23, 2017 as the result of a hemorrhagic stroke. Born November 26, 1934, Peggy was the daughter of the late George and Edwina (Hilda) Tippett of Saint John. Peggy enjoyed many summers spent over the years at the cottage and on the beach with family and friends at Magaguadavic Lake and in Westfield. In recent years, she enjoyed and appreciated the strong sense of community and caring shared among those living in Hillcrest Village. She made many new friends and rekindled old friendships and especially loved Wednesday night Bingo. She was never happier than when she was enjoying time spent with her grandchildren, they were the sunshine in her life. Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Edward "Ted" A. Shuve, her son David (Becky) of Magaguadavic Lake, her daughter Heather of Saint John and her two grandchildren, Christine Wright of Fredericton and Alexander Wright of Montreal. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Allingham of Calgary, nieces Jill (David) Hesse of Calgary and Peggi (Ivan) White of Lincoln; brother-in-law Ainslie Shuve of Toronto and many other nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Peggy was pre-deceased by her brother, Harry Tippett. The family want to acknowledge and thank the professional, caring and compassionate people working in emergency response (Ambulance NB EMT’s and the Saint John Fire Department) and those in the Emergency Department of the Saint John Regional Hospital. In particular, we want to extend our sincerest thanks to all staff working in the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital. The kindness and respect shown by everyone to Peggy and her family during her brief illness was very much appreciated. The family would like to extend an invitation to join them in a time of celebration at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Rd., Saint John West, NB (634-7425) on Saturday, May 27, 2017 anytime from 3 to 5 pm. A chance to share memories and enjoy a few of Peggy’s favourite things with her family and friends. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation (Palliative Care Unit), Saint John Community Food Basket or charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
