Obituary of Patrick Joseph Stone

It is with heavy hearts the family of Patrick Joseph (P.J.) Stone announce his peaceful passing on Friday, July 7, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born in Saint John on January 12, 1934 he was a son of the late Maison L. Stone. Before retiring at the age of 70, Patrick was an iron worker and long-term employee of Ocean Steel. He was one of the founding members of Local 842 International Association of Bridge Structural & Ornamental Iron Workers and past member of Local 172 ILA. Always with a positive attitude, he was well respected and always eager to lend a helping hand to others. He enjoyed working in his yard and was often found assisting others with their work. He appreciated nature and was known to feed wandering wildlife. He always had a pocket full of candy for friends and colleagues which earned him the name "Candy Man" by many that knew him. Patrick is survived by his daughter: Holly A. Stone (Rodney McIntyre); sons: Allan J. Stone, Stephen D. Stone, Mark A. Stone (Tatiana Radchenko), and Daniel P. (Vanessa) Stone; grandchildren: Lisa and Laura Wills, Emma and Riley Stone and Jordan and Evan Stone; and step grandchildren: Kelsey Leduc and Katey McIntyre. Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Rd., Saint John West, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral liturgy will be held at Brenan’s Bay View Chapel on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 12:00 PM. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
