Obituary of Greta Bell Bradford
The family of Greta Bradford, wife of the late Eric Bradford, announces her peaceful passing which occurred at Pine Grove Nursing Home in Fredericton on Thursday, August 17, 2017. Born in Chipman, on October 19, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Eben and Agnes (Hopkins) Langin.
In earlier life, Greta resided in Blacks Harbour and Deer Island, where she packed and labelled for Connors Bros. and H.W. Welch Ltd. Charlotte County is where Greta met her husband and moved to "Good ‘Ole Saint John" where she lived for 60 years. Greta was a clerk at Calp’s department store in Saint John for 29 years prior to her retirement.
Greta was a member of Portland United Church; a Life Member of Branch #14 Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary; a Sister of the Loyalist Temple #13 Pythian Sisters; a member of the Ladies’ Orange Benevolent Association of Canada; and a member of the Stephenson Tower Senior Citizen Club during her time living there.
Greta is survived by her daughter Doris A. Norman (late David M.); her son Eric W. Bradford (Betty Hache); several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces/nephews; sister-in-law Vivian (Bradford) Calhoun. In addition to her parents and husband, Greta was predeceased by her brother Edwin.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Greta’s cousin, Eugene Bradford, and caregiver, Kimm Moore, for spending time with Greta over the past several months. They also express sincere appreciation to the staff of Pine Grove Nursing Home for their compassionate care during her stay with them.
There is visitation on Monday, August 21, 2017 from 12-1:30 pm, Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Tribute at 1:30 and celebration of Greta’s life at 2:00 pm in Brenan’s Bay View Chapel with interment to follow at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Pine Grove Foundation Inc., or Palliative care unit of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manwagonish Road, Saint John (634-7424).
