Obituary of Dorilla Irene Glennie

It is with heavy hearts the family of Dorilla Irene (Melanson) Glennie, beloved wife of Donald G. Glennie, announce her passing on Wednesday August 30, 2017 at Bobby’s Hospice. Dorilla was born on November 24, 1942 in Highland View, NB, a daughter of the late Albenie and Ida Melanson. Dorilla dedicated her life to caring for her family; she was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She took great joy in caring for her grandchildren whenever called upon. Dorilla loved to play BINGO, many fun filled days and evenings were spent with the girls at the BINGO hall both near and far. Don and Dorilla cherished the time they spent at their cottage on Henry Lake, where Don would catch the fish and Dorilla would cook them. The peaceful setting and good friends and neighbors at the lake were always a welcome retreat. Dorilla will be deeply missed by her husband of 52 years Donald; two sons, Mark (Holly) Glennie of Westfield, NB and Shawn Glennie of St. Martins, NB; sisters, Emma Laurie of Orillia, Ontario; Rose-Marie Melanson (Allen) of Ottawa, Ontario; Simone (Bob) Bourque of Dieppe, NB; Imelda Boutilier of Riverview, NB; and two grandchildren Mitchell (Megan) Glennie and Jocelyn Glennie. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Oliver. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the many people who were involved in the care and treatment of Dorilla over the past two and a half years. Dorilla received exceptional care throughout her illness from the Oncology Team at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Dr Burnell guided her care with attention, compassion and expertise. Dorilla’s exceptional treatment continued at Bobby’s Hospice where the staff and volunteers skillfully cared for her and her family with the utmost kindness and compassion. Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Rd., Saint John West, NB (634-7425) with visitation on Friday, September 1, 2017 4 to 8 pm. A funeral liturgy will be held at Brenan’s Bay View Chapel on Saturday at 2:30 pm. Interment will take place at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Dorilla may be made to Bobby’s Hospice, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
