Obituary of Irma Pauline Bevans

Bevans, Irma Pauline - 93, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald T. Bevans. She is survived by daughters: Anne Cooper (Jerry) of Richmond, VA, Cathy McCormick (Mike) of Saint John, NB, and Cindy Bevans (Cathy) of Norwalk, CT, sons: Ronald T. Bevans, Jr. (Roberta) of Miami, FL and Stephen Bevans (Trisha) of Danville, PA., eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandsons, and four sisters. Irma was born in New Jerusalem, New Brunswick, Canada, the oldest daughter in the Beckett farm family of seven brothers and sisters. She moved to the United States in 1954 where she raised her own five children through several moves to Massachusetts, Michigan, Ohio, Virginia and Pennsylvania. Irma and family settled in Stamford, CT in 1977 where she was employed with Pierson & Smith real estate. She was a loyal member and the long-time secretary/treasurer at Stamford Baptist Church. A formidable (but always modest) Scrabble opponent, she enjoyed doing crosswords, reading, knitting and crochet. Mom was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a special friend and inspiration to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by all. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425) where family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, October 19 from 12-2. A Memorial Service will immediately follow the visitation at 2 PM, all held from Brenan’s Bay View Chapel. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Grand Bay Baptist Church.
