Obituary of Ora Leroy Gereau
It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Ora Gereau which occurred on November 20, 2017 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Ora was born on January 8, 1935 in Rusagonis, New Brunswick to David and Elizabeth (nee Phillips) by whom he was predeceased, as well as his brothers Floyd of Fredericton and Harry of Rusagonis.
He is survived by his cherished wife of 61 years Joyce (nee Wilson); daughters, Karen (Kevin) Bonner of Saint John and Sandra of Fredericton; sister in law Freyda (late Floyd); and grandchildren Neil and Kathleen, both of Saint John.
Ora worked at NB Power his entire career in various capacities, retiring from Point Lepreau and he enjoyed over 50 years volunteering as a Scout leader. He was an avid outdoorsman and relished many salmon fishing trips taken with friends. He also spent many years tying flies.
During retirement Ora and his wife were able to travel. The highlights being trips to Europe, Hawaii and Alaska.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Their many kindnesses will always be treasured.
Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Rd., Saint John West, NB (634-7425) with visitation on Thursday, November 23, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Bay View Chapel on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at the Rusagonis Baptist Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
