Obituary of Medard Joseph Savoy

Savoy, Medard Joseph – It is with heavy hearts the family of Medard Joseph Savoy, husband, of thirty years, to Ann (Gardner) Savoy, announce his passing at Bobby’s Hospice on December 18, 2017. Born in Saint John on May 12, 1941 he was a son of the late Medard and Anna (Bouregois). Medard loved Cambridge Narrows where he built his own cottage. There he loved to spend time with family and friends and it was especially great when his children were able to spend time with him there as well. Medard was an avid outdoorsman and boating and snowmobiling were his favourites. He was known in the city as the owner of VJ Savoy Ltd. Painters and Decorators, a long standing business in the community. In addition to his wife Ann, he is survived by his children: Michael Savoy of Grand Bay-Westfield, David Mirfin of North Carolina and Jacqueline Mirfin of New Jersey; siblings: Roger Gallant (Jill Ahearn) of Saint John, Diane (Emile) Robichaud of Grand Bay-Westfield and Geraldine Gallant of Saint John; granddaughter Katherine Mirfin; first wife Phyllis Belding; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his infant sister Dianna Savoy. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Rd., Saint John West, NB (634-7425). In keeping with Medard’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Medard may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
