Obituary of Earnest Francis MacKinnon

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Earnest Francis MacKinnon at the age of 71, on January 14, 2019. Born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia, he was the oldest child of the late Boyne and Virginia (Daix) MacKinnon. Ernie is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Sandra (Grant) and his loving daughters Virginia (Jason) Swindall of Waterdown, ON and Miriam (Michael) Black of Oromocto, NB. "Poppy" will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Taylor, Kaitlyn, and Joshua. Ernie is survived by his loving brothers and sisters, Hugh (Dorothy) of Coxheath, NS, Mary (Jerry) MacKenzie of Scotchtown, NS, Rick of Whitecourt, AB, Linda (Wayne) MacEachern of Mayerthorpe, AB, Brenda Murphy of Mayerthorpe, AB, and Cathy (Denis) Gauthier of Barrhead, AB. He will always be remembered by many other family and friends, including his sister-in-law, Miriam MacDonald. Ernie was predeceased by his daughter, Shannon Leigh, his sister, Norma Joann, his best friend of 49 years, George MacDonald, and his beloved cat and constant companion, Rusty. Ernie spent 26 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force (Cpl. Ret’d, CD1). Ernie is Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB (634-7425). Visitation will be on Thursday, January 17 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 18 at 1:00 pm from Brenan’s Bay View Chapel with a reception to follow at Beulah Hotel dining room, Browns Flat, NB. All are welcome.
