Obituary of Jessie Lingley

Jessie Lingley of Saint John, wife of the late Harry O. Lingley, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 02, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Scotchtown-New Waterford, Cape Breton on April 18, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Williamson) Arnott. As a young woman, Jessie worked at the New Brunwick Protestant Orphanage, and after her children got older, she worked at the Fairville Fountain Restaurant and also for the School Board. She was a Veteran of World War II, and was a member of Branch 69 of the Royal Canadian Legion. In her spare time, Jessie enjoyed knitting and crotchet, playing bingo, and was an avid attender of yard sales. Always willing to give people a hand, Jessie enjoyed her time at the Carleton Kirk Lodge, where she had been living for the past year. Jessie is survived by her children, Tom Lingley (Charlene Smith) of Saint John West, Doris Frenette (Stephen) of Saint John, and Alan Lingley of Grand Bay-Westfield; grandchildren Stephen Frenette (Bobbie), Shona Frenette, Justin Frenette, Shaun Lingley, Crystal Brideau, Heather Turner (Randy), and Tammy Brideau; several great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Arnott (Sheila) of Lorneville; and several nieces and nephews. Jessie was predeceased by an infant daughter, Mary, a son, Donald Lingley, a daughter H. Joann Lingley; and a brother, Thomas Arnott. Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West (634-7425), with visiting on Thursday, October 4, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
