Cindy was/is one of my closest friends, we became friends a week or two after she moved to Halifax with her son Sean to go to university, over 30 years ago. We are members of the same church and we shared so many of the same ideals. When I had my youngest daughter late in life, she was there for me to not only look after my daughter for me while I worked but to love her like a second mom. She encouraged me to apply for my current job when I doubted myself, she was a cheerleader in my corner. She had strong opinions but she also respected that other people had their own opinions too... I shall miss our conversations, we could talk for hours. I pray for her family as all of them were so important to her, she shared the love she had for them often. Launna

I was blessed to have a wonderful older sister growing up, she looked out for me and ensured that I was happy. Cindy was my cousin, but mostly my second sister. She taught me compassion, kindness, to keep an open mind, tolerance, and patience. Cindy cared about people and she encouraged that I cared about people too. I remember her calmness and her ability to share her point of view in a non-threatening and positive way. It is funny that all of the words that we use today to promote social justice, equality, and openness are techniques that she learned intuitively on the farm in Chipman, NB. Looking back on my career, I know that the ground work for my development was from the security that my older sister provided me and the aptitude for helping others that my cousin Cindy introduced to me. Rest in peace Cindy, and thank you for your mentorship. Tim Randles
