Obituary of Donald B. Bremner

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Don Bremner of Saint John, husband of the late Fiona (Campbell), announce his death which occurred on January 25, 2025 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Wick, Scotland, on June 22, 1945, he was the son of the late Alexander (Sandy) and Margaret (Peggy) Bremner.

As a top pupil he pursued a career as a marine draftsman and this journey took him to Glasgow where he met the love of his life, Fiona, whom he was married to in 1967. They travelled across the pond to Canada where they eventually settled on the Kingston Peninsula, where they raised their two children amongst a close group of great friends. Don worked at the Dry Dock and Maritime Marine Consultants, which he subsequently became owner of. He had a deep passion for his work and was well respected in the industry. Don was an active member of his community wherever he lived, and was loved by all.

Don is survived by his two children, Gail Bremner (Peter Quinn), Dr. Heather Bremner (Lee Wicks); granddaughter, Athena Smith; brother, Grant Bremner (Marjorie), their son, Sandy Bremner (Maureen) and their family.

Don’s family would like to thank Drs Michael, Campbell and Maloney, the team at Parkland (Millidgeville) and the staff of 3NA for their exceptional care over the past number of years.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424), where visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 10-11 am, at which time the funeral service will begin in Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in the spring.

For those who wish, in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of their choice.
